The Film

Rakta Charitra Part 1 is true to Ram Gopal Varma’s style and portrays in realastic terms the faction feuds.

The Synopsis

Nagamani Reddy (Kota Srinivasa Rao) hatches a plan to create enmity between Narasimha Reddy and his right hand man Veerabhadrayya (Rajendra Gupta). As a result, Veerabhadrayya is liquidated. The victim’s son Shankar Ravi (Sushant Singh) wants to avenge his father’s death, but he also gets killed. Veerabhadrayya’s younger son Pratap Ravi (Vivek Oberoi) is unaware of these feuds and he wants to marry Nandini (Radhika Apte) and settle down. But the murders of his father

and his elder brother provoke him to do away with the perpetrators of the crime. He gets sucked into the faction feuds and the rest of the story deals with the rise of Pratap into the realms of political power.

The Performances

Vivek Oberoi steals the show with a powerful performance. Kota Srinivasa Rao lives his role. Abhimanyu Singh essays his role convincingly. Shatrughan Sinha, seen on the screen after a long time, is his usual self. All others do well with author backed roles.

The Techniques

As is his wont, RGV comes out with a very gripping story and screenplay. The

dialogues add to the flow of the narration. Background music is good. Cinematography is excellent. Technically and production wise the film scores on the high side.

The Verdict

Rakta Charitra should be seen to understand the nature of feuds that sometimes cloud the practice of politics. Ram Gopal Varma has given another Sarkar level film.
